These are very handy items to have, especially in vehicles like mine which have hardly any usable console space. And the company stands behind them with unusually good customer service.
They're not really "sticky" in the sense that they'll leave residue on things they touch. Rather, they are simply made of a high-tack rubbery compound which offers lots of friction. Cell phones, iPods, sunglasses, coins, whatever--if it's making good contact with the Sticky Pad, it's not going anywhere under any sort of normal circumstances.
I have used many sticky pads, including the other kind made by HandStands, which is much thinner (e.g. the "Leather Grain" sticky pads). The "Jelly Sticky Pad" type is much, much better. For one thing, the thinner sticky pads tend to curl up at the edges, and sometimes, the curling is pronounced, making the pad harder to use and looking ridiculous. The thin pads are also harder to clean, and much easier to damage. These sticky pads don't have any of those problems.
HandStands now makes Sticky Pads in a larger size.

When I ordered this product they sent a much smaller pad than the one I ordered. When I let them know of the mistake they sent me the correct item without even asking that I return the one they originally sent.

This was the best purchase ever! It holds my toll pass in place when needed and I can put it out-of-sight when not using. Plan on purchasing another one for my wife's car!

Okay...I am not using it for my phone...sue me...I am using it to keep my coffee mug in place. Works wonders in this regard...nothing worse than the smell of coffee with creamer after a week of soaking in your carpeting in the car and this has solved that issue very well. Good value.
