Who would have thought ...Jan 08, 2008

... something so small and simple and inexpensive would end up providing a good mounting surface to mount your GPS receiver to the dash? No, Handstands doesn't promote this product in that fashion (I heard it first at GPS Passion), but believe it or not, it works (I was pretty skeptical - but after reading jbb's review, I figured why not try it?)
This is a very small and thin product (so small you don't even notice it if you have a dark dash) 5.75"L x 3.75"W x 1/8" thick, and this one comes in graphite (black). And that's exactly why I like it -- it's unobtrusive. Now I don't know how it would work for a larger, heavier GPS with a heavier and longer mount, but for my NĂ¼vi 260 (which is less than 6 oz and comes with a really tiny ball mount), it works like a charm. I could have even gotten a smaller pad, and it probably would have worked just fine.
Obviously, if it works as a GPS mounting surface, it no doubt works for its intended purpose (cell phones, iPods, glasses, etc., -- I wouldn't know first-hand). But a word of caution. It would be advisable not to keep it on your dash month after month (natural bleaching of the dash by the sun could leave your dash with an outline of the pad). Just move it around every once and awhile.
Seems rather silly to give such a simple and inexpensive product 5 stars (or this long of a review), but since it does what it isn't even advertised to do, I'll give it 9 out of 10 and a 5-star rating. Now I don't know how this product will perform over time, but since it's easy to take off and clean, I don't see why it shouldn't last for years (but if it doesn't, I'm only out 6 bucks).
EDIT: Handsprings has changed the top surface texture of their sticky pads! I just purchased a second one (my original, I left at a friends house in D.C. -- and I live in SoCal). This new product is NOT the same. It can no longer be used as a GPS mount. Because of this, ignore the review above. The entire pad is less "sticky" than the original, and because of this, it deserves an average rating and not 5 stars.

Jelly Stick Pads help organize gadgets in car.Jul 13, 2007

Instead of sticking radar detectors and GPS devices to the windshield, or using velcro, I use Jelly Stick Pads to hold these items in place on the dashboard. When you park the car, the devices and pads can easily be removed and stored away from prying eyes. You can also move the pads to another car for use there. Just be sure to clean the dashboard with alcohol to allow the pad to stick tight. Be especially careful to remove any Armor-all type products from the area of the dashboard where you use the sticky pads. Overall the Jelly Stick Pad performs as advertised.

Works OKAug 30, 2008
By N. Foss It does what it says to an extent. You have to clean it about once a week because of dust in the air settling on it and removing its stickiness. once it starts to go, things slide everywhere. The good news is drop it in the sink and wash it with dishsoap and it's ready to go.

Best Car GadgetJan 11, 2009
By PJ & E I've been a fan of this "Jelly Pad" for more than 7 years now... I actually remove these when I sell my car because they last forever... it seems!
* Low profile. Doesn't clutter the look of your dash or any other part of the car.
* On the dash for the cell phone or ear piece. Also for silly stuff like my Monsters Inc squeeze light.
* The space a stereo could fit to keep stuff from sliding around and out.
* The cubby area under the tray to keep stuff from shifting around.
* Put my change on it when prepping for tolls.
* Easy to wash for 100% renewal of stickiness.
* GPS suction cup stand holder *****
* Lasts... for years! Non reflective (no glare). 100% Reusable.
Now I've found another use! *****Stick the suction cup of your GPS holder on it on the dash.
In New England, year round, I never need to clean it again and it never comes off. (I don't remove the suction cup holder.) I only clean it because the extra space gets dusty and my cell doesn't stick so well after a while. But everything under the suction cup never gets dusty. The jelly pad gives it the extra sticky, vacuum sealed suction that just doesn't budge.
Cars get dirty... so just wash, dry and go again. If you tend to let your car get dirty a lot, then you will need to wash it a lot. It's "sticky" but not gummy.
Great invention! Best car product thus far.
I highly recommend this product. I want this product to be available for purchase --always-- so I can replace my old ones if they ever break, stop working or get lost! So far... same 3 for 7+ years. :-)
